Dear Mauston and Lyndon Station Communities:
As we embark on the 2024-2025 school year, our focus is unwavering on providing compassionate care for our students and leveraging the support of our dedicated parents and resourceful citizens. It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as your Superintendent and educational partner. Despite the obstacles, we are determined to make this year exceptionally productive.
In April, our operational referendum failed. As a result, we have had to implement a hiring freeze, which has led to larger class sizes, the elimination of certain classes, and an increased burden on our already overstretched staff. We are committed to maintaining high standards and keeping pace with other exemplary institutions, despite our constrained funding. Our priority remains to address our students’ academic, social-emotional, and future readiness needs, even under these difficult circumstances
The School District of Mauston will continue to work with its staff and community to respond to our learner’s academic, social-emotional, and college and career-ready needs. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to our students and staff. Your feedback and support are vital as we work diligently to serve the best interests of our students and families.
With great appreciation,
Joel Heesch
